Description

The Bilbao Fine Arts Museum is located in the Parque de Doņa Casilda Park, the widest green area in the city centre. Situated within the Abandoibarra area, it is very close to the Guggenheim museum.

Neo-classic style prevails in the building, declared a Historic-Artistic monument in 1962. It was extended twice, in 1970 for the first time and the second time in 2001. The museum was enriched with innovative touches of the Contemporary Movement and subsequently with a room extension for visitors.

In the last reform, the showiness and elegance of the interiors just as the spectacular glazed restaurant-coffee-bars with views of the gardens and the park's roads are remarkable.

The relevant and important artistic monument, both for its volume and aesthetics quality, consists of four main sections: ancient art, contemporary art, Basque art, and to a lesser extent, small collections of applied arts. All of them show the wide outlook to plastic arts from the 12th century to the present day, with more than 6,000 pieces of work.

The museum could be an interesting situation for a shooting, and to show different settings. Modern setting in the restaurant, classical in the art galleries, urban setting in the exterior, in the park's surroundings, etc.

Recommended areas: the museum's surroundings, restaurant-bar, galleries and interiors.

Setting: Modern, classical and/or urban.
