Basurto Hospital

The Basurto Hospital is linked with the history of Bilbao and its hospital facilities as it had its origin in an ancient hospital of the capital.

Located in the Basurto neighbourhood, the hospital was built at the end of the 19th century. The most striking feature of the construction is its structure and exterior appearance. It consists of more than fifteen low buildings surrounded by gardens and wide pedestrian areas, more characteristic of suburbs than of a hospital.

The exterior is really eye-catching as it presents numerous elements of modernist style on its facades that give an attractive and special atmosphere to the block - far from the current idea of urban hospitals -, visually speaking.

It should be noted that the hospital is located in the urban centre and easily accessible by road or by public transport, which makes it easier to carry out filmings.
