Description
The palace housing the regional council was inaugurated on July 31st, 1900 and is located in the pedestrian area of the paved Gran Vía, in the city centre. Currently it is one of the most emblematic buildings of Bilbao and Bizkaia.
It is a compact and smart building with bolstered facades, windows with pediment and an important balcony over the main entrance.
The building can be placed within the eclectic movement and shows an important concern for the composition of its facade, presenting a very meticulous appearance due to its numerous classical-style ornaments that endow the block with a great visual attraction.
The interior presents an imperial staircase decorated with amazing fresco paintings, windows and sculptures.
Setting and atmosphere: Classical, urban and busy social activity.
