Lifts

Bilbao city distinguishes itself in a peculiarity: several mountains surround Bilbao and the city is full of constant slopes. Thus, it is common to find steep ramps between neighbourhoods.

To avoid these obstacles, there are many lifts along the city that link up the low parts of the city with the highest ones. The most important lifts are the following:

• Iturribide Lift
• Santutxu Lift
• Begoņa Lift
• Artxanda cable car (see Artxanda file)

The Iturribide lift is located right in the old part of the town, in a privileged environment with magnificent views due to the narrow streets and the busy social activity that invades them.

However, Santutxu and Begoņa lifts exit side by side with a more modern urban area offering Begoņa an excellent panoramic view of the whole city.

Besides, bear in mind that these lifts have a very uncommon structure, very interesting for every sort of filmings.
